Parking Targets shouldn't happen in Southport says MP

Southport Liberal Democrat MP John Pugh has written to Mark Underwood, Chief Executive of NSL - the outsourcing service provider - asking him for reassurances that there will be no targets for traffic wardens when issuing tickets.

The concern follows the story of Hakim Berkani who won his claim for unfair dismissal after he stood up to NSL bosses when it was exposed that secret parking ticket quotas were being enforced in London's Kensington and Chelsea.

Sefton Council recently acquired a new parking contract with NSL.

John said "I have written to the Mark Underwood seeking assurances from NSL that nothing that nothing like what was found in Kensington and Chelsea will be repeated here in Southport.

"I will also be writing to Sefton Council asking that the parking contract works to serve the needs of our community rather being a pure money generator."
