At the General Election in Southport on 6th May 2010, 43757 votes were cast (approximately 65% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

NHS - anxiety grows about cost pressures leading to privatisation

Following a huge demonstration in London yesterday on behalf of Keep Our NHS Public John Pugh has warned that increased financial pressure on the NHS will lead to creeping if not rampant privatisation of services. Local doctors, including hospital consultants have written to him expressing this concern.

Army Mental Health Figures 'Implausible', Says MP

Questions were being asked today about the quality of mental health support being provided for soldiers in Afghanistan.
