"It's a great privilege representing the people of Southport and honour to serve a second term. Having been involved in the successful attempt to build a promising future for Southport I am keen now to see that work through.

"Making Southport into a classic resort great to live in and visit is foremost in my thoughts. Equally we neeed to address the problems that inadequate transport links, shortage of affordable housing and the changing pattern of health services present. I have set myself some challenging targets which will involve working with every section of our community. There will be many who will contact me with individual problems or ask me to defend and declare our beliefs and values in Parliament. All this, I and my constituency team hope to do vigorously, effectively, with common sense and good humour."
