John Pugh MP brings RAF 'Top Brass' to Woodvale to discuss asbestos concerns

Monday, 20 May 2013

John Pugh MP has succeeded in bringing senior RAF personnel and Defence Industry Health & Safety specialists to Woodvale Airfield this Thursday (23rd May) to see if there is any chance to bring the Woodvale Rally back to its traditional home. The Service chiefs will be meeting with the MP and representatives of the Woodvale Rally Committee. The head of the RAF Air Training division, Air Commodore Des Stubbs from RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire will be attending.

Woodvale Rally organisers are running the rally at Victoria Park this summer for the second year in a row, having been informed that concerns about asbestos in the ground might put members of the public at risk if it became 'disturbed' by Rally activities. Although there will be much fun to be had at Victoria Park, the physical limitations of that site mean that certain activities associated with Woodvale over the years have had to be restricted or withdrawn.
